We Are Not Like You

Imagine waking up somewhere far away from home
Somewhere different, alien -
a world unlike your own.
At first you think you're dreaming, but, no -
You've really wound up here.
Guess you'll have to do the best
you can.
Empty faces everywhere fill you with false promise -
Look, over there. Someone you can relate to?
They look like you but somehow, they're different -
No, you're different. You're the alien. The invader.
This world is their home.
You approach them - but all they do is speak to you in gibberish.
Words and phrases that you can't possibly understand.
In time, you learn mimic their movements. You still don't know what they're saying, but
you know enough to get you by. You learn to integrate, or near enough anyway. In time, they accept you
as one of their own.
But you're still different. You still feel.. different. And this world,
despite it's many charms... Is not your home - and you're not satisfied with it. It's too small-minded.
Too limited in scope. But what else can you do, where else can you go? There's no going back to
where you came from. The only other option is to end it all, and then, all you'll find is nothing.
And something is always better than, nothing, right?
You can't even remember the other place anyway.
All you know is that you fit in there. Provided that it ever existed at all.
You're not like them, but now it's too late to matter. Just hope that in your next life, you'll find
yourself return as a being with a place in the world. Any world. And that you won't have to leave it.

Automation

Please, thank you, I beg your pardon?
Please, thank you, I beg your pardon?
Please, thank you, I beg your pardon?
Please, thank you, I beg your pardon?
Please, thank you, how good to see you.
Please, thank you, have a nice day.
Please, thank you, how good to see you.
Please, thank you, have a nice day.
It's nothing... just automation.
I'm nothing... just automation.
It's nothing... just automation.
I'm nothing...
Have a nice day.

Place Beyond Stars

I got your message from beyond stars
Reflected image of where we're from
This world seems brighter now I've heard you
Lonliness fades and I know what to do.
It's not like I'm dying - just drifting away
And when it is over I'll be okay.
Everything's beautiful when I'm with you.
That single moment helps me pull through.
You say you'll save me from beyond stars
They say I'm crazy - my mind's gone wrong
Who to believe now I'm on my own?
Despite this contact I'm still alone.
It's not like I'm dying - just drifting away
And when it is over I'll be okay.
I play your tapes back and realise -
The hope they give me keeps me alive.
It's not like I'm dying - just drifting away
And when it is over I'll be okay.
Everything's beautiful when I'm with you.
That single moment helps me pull through.
It's not like I'm dying - just drifting away
And when it is over I'll be okay.
Everything's beautiful when I'm with you.
That single moment helps me pull through.
